Out with Affiliate Marketing banners; In with Sponsored Link
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009Regular readers of this blog may recall my announcement on Affiliate Marketing banners some months back. At the time I promised an update, so here it is.
Affiliate marketing does not work
I’m not sure if the visitors to this site were the problem, or if our choice of ‘tourism related’ banners was misplaced; but either way after nine months of carrying affiliate banners we can report we achieved NO SALES and NO COMMISSION - this despite delivering well over 100,000 impressions and over 1000 clicks. As a result we have now removed the affiliate banners and cancelled our account with Commission Junction, and have gone instead with the tried and tested “Sponsored Links”.
Rent my Villa - 12 month campaign
From June, WalesCymru.com will be carrying the above sponsored link for Rent My Villa for a 12 month period. The deal is very favourable to the advertiser, if I say so myself, and hopefully sets a new stage in some much needed income generation.
As someone who firmly believes in full disclosure, unless commercial interest prevent otherwise; I hope to be able to report the success of this campaign over the coming months.
Now if anyone else is interested in a similar deal; please don’t hesitate to contact me - after-all one sponsored link does not a summer make, or something like that.
